About Fran Lotery
Fran Lotery has more than 30 years of experience working with professional firms, family enterprises, owners of closely held companies, and non-profit institutions. She tackles difficult issues of governance, board development, conflict management, organizational change, leadership development, and executive coaching. Fran is recognized for her strong and creative capabilities in assisting organizations and families with their unique leadership challenges and leadership development initiatives.
Fran has created unique forums for operating companies and professional firms to empower senior executives to tackle critical issues, including organizational change and company performance. She designs innovative programs that empower people to positively transform relationships and improve communication, problem solving and the culture of the organization. She brings with her a deep understanding of family dynamics and many years of experience in assisting families with life altering transitions.
Fran brings a wealth of expertise to family businesses. As the co-author of the timeless book, Live Inside Out Not Upside Down (1996), and with co-author Fredda Herz Brown, wrote The Family Wealth Sustainability Toolkit (2012) and contributed to The Essential Roadmap: Navigating Family Enterprise Sustainability in a Changing World (2020). Specifics throughout these books walk individuals through practical steps from self-acceptance and growth to defining a roadmap for family wealth sustainability.
She has been a featured speaker on radio, television, and professional conferences, as well as at educational institutions, speaking on topics such as leadership succession, creating future leaders, working through conflict, emotional intelligence, and gender differences in leadership.
Fran earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Cambridge Graduate School of Psychology, Los Angeles, a Masters in Social Work from Arizona State University, and a B.A. from Ohio State University. In 2004, she achieved a certificate from the Family Firm Institute in Family Business Advising. An active community volunteer, Fran has served as a trustee on a number of Boards, including the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center, the Breast Resource Center and the Family Therapy Institute. She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
